Seinäjoki University Consortium (UCS) is a multidisciplinary scientific network of 90 experts from four Finnish universities (Tampere, Helsinki, Vaasa and University of Arts Helsinki). It is a network that brings together 20 research groups which are led by a professor or research director affiliated with one of the member universities. The focus areas are future oriented and research groups op-erate with the international scientific community and Finnish working life. We will strengthen the research by offering financial support to 4 - 6 postdoctoral researchers to start-up their research career in Seinäjoki. The positions can be placed in different branch of science at universities. The financial support package is a project which includes salary for a postdoctoral researcher for 6 months and travelling costs for networking.

Ruralia Institute, which is part of the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry at the University of Helsinki, offers high-quality research and innovation partnerships for rural development. The focus areas of the Institute are local development, sustainable food chains and new bioeconomy. The Institute performs extensive international, national and regional cooperation with about 50 experts (www.helsinki.fi/ruralia).

Ruralia Institute’s Seinäjoki Unit invites applications for

1-2 POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHERS

for a full-time, 6 months fixed-term position in a research career start-up project which is funded by the Seinäjoki University Consortium. Working period should carry out during 2020. A postdoctoral researcher will draw up a personal research program and apply for funding for research and innova-tion projects that support it. The applicant shall have a research interest in some of the following themes: sustainable transformation of rural entrepreneurship, placebased rural development or ru-ral-urban interdependencies in digitalized and globalized world.

According to the regulations of the University of Helsinki, a postdoctoral researcher shall hold a doctoral degree and have the ability to conduct independent scholarly work as well as the teaching skills necessary for the position. Also willingness to invest research career development in Seinäjoki, ability to co-operate and independent and active way of working are expected.

We offer an international, inspiring and supportive research environment as well as modern facilities in Seinäjoki. The salary of the successful candidate will be based on level 5 of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance.
