Senior Research Specialist
Nokia Bell Labs is looking for an ambitious and top engaged colleague as part of a Radio Access Team in Oulu, Finland. We are looking for a top-motivated and highly skilled researchers.
The primary duty for this position is to design and standardize current and future radio technologies for use in Nokia's cellular and broadband wireless network products. The candidate should be able to perform analysis and simulation of cellular radio systems to support the design and development of advanced algorithms and radio technologies, research new technologies, work in 3GPP standards, publish key results, and file patent disclosures.
Specifically, your role includes the following responsibilities:
• Radio research in the area of physical layer, medium access and radio resource management
• Conduct/develop system simulations and link simulations
• Contribute to wireless access research strategy creation process
• Ensure active participation in 3GPP for the related research to push Nokia Bell Labs research into standardization
• Working as part of a team with the ability to work independently as well
• Contribute and participate in customer dialogue on latest wireless technology trends
• Coordinate the 5G work being done in various bodies including 5GACIA, 5G-PPP, 5GAA
• Influence the next generation mobile communications and standards
Requirements:
• A MS or Ph.D (preferred) in Electrical Engineering
• Strong system background in 5G or LTE is a prerequisite
• A profound understanding of the area of radio access systems is a prerequisite
• A good understanding of Radio Access solution & product portfolio and wireless business strategy is required
• Experience in 3GPP standardization will be a plus
• Knowledge of programming languages including C, C++, Python and MATLAB
• You must cover several of the following areas
o Physical layer architecture and design
o Radio access link and system simulation experience
o Multiple antenna systems (MAS) for 5G/5G Evolution systems
o Radio wave propagation in bands from 6 GHz-300 GHz
o Layer 1 and low-Layer 2 protocols and architectures
o Machine Learning techniques specifically for radio access
o SW/HW architecture and implementation
• Experience in any of following specific topics is a plus
o Industrial Internet of Things (IoT)
o Vehicle to Everything (V2X) communication
o Non Terrestrial Networks (NTN)
o Massive Machine Type Communication (MTC)
o Unlicensed Access
o Receiver Architecture
Preferred technical background:
• 3-5 years as a wireless research or development engineer
• Multi -national and distributed environment
• Extensive exposure to international interworking culture, experience in leading distributed teams is an advantage
• You are proactive and willing to follow and search for latest research results!
• Fluent English skills is a requirement
