Postdoctoral Researcher positions (max. 5 positions) in the fields of Science, Medicine and Technology

Research at the University of Turku is diverse and international. Our strongest fields of research form the basis for new and interdisciplinary projects. The high quality of the University is evident in the numerous high placings received in worldwide university rankings.

The Turku Collegium for Science and Medicine (TCSM) is supported by the Faculty of Science and Engineering (from 1.1.2021 onwards the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Technology) and the Faculty of Medicine. The aim of TCSM is to establish a multidisciplinary, interactive research platform for dynamic scientists in science, medicine and technology. Research at TCSM includes studies in the fields of e.g. astronomy, biology, biochemistry, biomedicine, biotechnology, chemistry, clinical medicine, computer science, dentistry, future technologies, geology, geography, information technology, materials science and engineering, mathematics, mechanical engineering, nursing science, physics, and statistics.

The Turku Collegium for Science and Medicine now invites applications for a maximum of five (5) postdoctoral researcher positions at one of the departments at the University of Turku, including Turku School of Economics. Successful applicants may begin their employment on 1.8.2021 at the earliest, 1.1.2022 at the latest. The duration of the positions offered is three years.

The candidates considered must have outstanding potential and established excellence in research. Persons appointed must have completed their doctoral degree no more than five years before the submission deadline for applications. Not included in the net period of five years are maternity leaves, parental leaves, military service, etc. Persons appointed must have completed their doctoral degree by the end of the application period. Applicants are also expected to have attained other academic achievements.

The Board of TCSM will fill the positions offered based on an international call for applications. The top candidates will be interviewed. Particular attention will be paid to candidates’ international research experience. A successful candidate should have a connection to research conducted at the University of Turku. Candidates are expected to be able to join an existing research group, or to work under the supervision of a senior researcher at the University of Turku. Attention is also paid to how the research of the applicant relates to the collaborative themes of research at the University of Turku.

The salary offered is determined in accordance with the University salary system for teaching and research personnel. The salary for Postdoctoral Researcher positions corresponds to a requirement level 5 and the pre-estimated personal performance percentage of 17% (euro-dominated salary 3 434.59 €/month).  Progress in the researcher's personal performance can be taken into account when determining the salary during employment.
