Senior Lecturer in Corporate Environmental Management, as of 2nd March 2020 until further notice

Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics (JSBE) conducts high-quality research and offers quality degree education and executive education in business and economics. According to our mission, JSBE strives for enabling excellence in responsible business, digital business and economy, and policy-relevant economics. In addition, we contribute to the societal impact of the University by promoting university-based entrepreneurship and innovation activities.   

JSBE received AACSB accreditation in 2018. Our Excecutive MBA has AMBA accreditation. JSBE’s research is ranked among top 301-400 in Shanghai’s Academic Ranking of World Universities and 251-300 in Times High Education ranking.

JSBE is an active, international, and cooperative faculty in the dynamic and international University of Jyväskylä. The number of JSBE faculty is around 120, including more than 20 professors. About 1.500 students study at JSBE. Each year, around 170 students graduate as Masters of Science, and about 10 doctoral dissertations are publicly defended at JSBE.

Senior Lecturer in Corporate Environmental Management participates in teaching and supervision of students of the international Master’s Programme in Corporate Environmental Management, as well as in administrative duties of the Programme and the School of Business and Economics. Senior Lecturer can also participate in the supervision of Doctoral theses. Senior Lecturer is expected to conduct research in Corporate Environmental Management in topics such as sustainable transformation, sustainable business models, resource wisdom, circular or sharing economy, stakeholder relations, or sustainability marketing. Senior Lecturer is expected to be active in scientific publishing and research projects, including acquisition of research funding. Senior Lecturer supports the work of the Resource Wisdom community (https://www.jyu.fi/en/research/wisdom) of the University.

The duties, qualification requirements and language skills of senior lecturer are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. Applicants are expected/not expected to have related practical experience.
The selected person is required to have a command of Finnish language. In certain cases, the University may grant exemption from this requirement. A good command of English language and an ability to teach in English are regarded as advantageous for the applicant.

A doctoral degree in Corporate Environmental Management or a closely related field in business studies and experience in education and research in Corporate Environmental Management are required from the Senior Lecturer. Evidence of participation in research projects, acquisition of research funding, and supervision of theses is considered advantages to the applicant. An ideal applicant has an ambitious research agenda aiming to publications in high-quality scientific journals.

The salary of a successful candidate will be based on level 5-7 of of the job requirement scheme for teaching and research staff in the salary system of Finnish universities. The starting salary will be between 3100-5000 EUR/month depending on the qualifications and experience of  the candidate.

A trial period of six months will be used when the position is first filled.
