We are looking for a Lead Front-end Developer for Sanoma’s consumer sales solutions. You will work with our digital sales channels and identity management (Sanoma-tili) provided for e.g. Ruutu, HS.fi, and Ilta-Sanomat as well as Sanoma’s self-service portal.

As a Lead Developer you will be part of our Consumer Sales Development team. We run development projects, design new technical solutions and lead solution architecture in close co-operation with our business stakeholders. You are a key player in staying up to speed with the latest technologies providing guidance and insight to the development team. You will also work in close co-operation with architects to ensure the solutions are aligned with our architecture vision. Your work will mainly consist of technical design and implementation of new features, but you will also be expected to improve our existing solutions.

The development team consists of a couple of lead developers, and a mix of front end, back end, and full stack developers. The team is following scrum and working with devops practices. Our solutions are strongly API and microservice oriented. Our front ends are built using Node.js and React, and back end services mostly using Java and Spring. We deploy in the cloud (mostly AWS, with some services in Azure), and use EC2s, Elastic Beanstalk, Docker containers, and Lambdas. Back end services are exposed to the front end applications through REST APIs managed in Azure API Management.

We’re looking for a good workmate and a team player with 5+ years of experience in software development with front-end focus. What comes to professional experience, following skills would be important in this position:
– Modern front-end JS development (ES6 and beyond, build tools, UI libraries, modern CSS)
– UX and accessibility
– Experience in public cloud (e.g.  AWS, Azure)

It would be also really nice if you have experience or interest of the following technologies
– Modern cloud development practices (automated testing, CI/CD, cloud deployment)
– Experience in Lean / Agile (scrum & kanban) development
– Java experience preferred
– Monitoring and troubleshooting

Additionally we value good communication skills in Finnish and English.
