VTT – beyond the obvious.

We are now looking for a Research technician to join our Chemical Process Technology team. The work focus on developing chemical processes and scale-up from lab to pilot to generate synthetic chemical products from bio-based materials and side streams. We apply techniques of organic and polymer synthesis, down-stream processing and analysis technologies. We have unique combination of lab-scale reactor set-ups, analytical devices and pilot facilities for development, scaling-up and demonstration of our product and process innovations. We also have recognized personnel with competence more than 20 years in collaboration with industry from different sectors.

With us you will be assisting the implementation, development, and continuous improvement of experimental work in a different scale. The work includes experiment from the laboratory to the pilot scale and you will be part of our chemical engineer technology team providing your expertise in execution of R&D projects.

Main responsibilities:

• To execute experimental work accurately, safely and record the results
• To maintain a safe and clean work area
• To participate maintenance and repairing of testing devices and analysers

• Bachelor of Engineering degree in chemical process chemistry or other relevant degree. Previous experience of working in a chemical laboratories or applied research is a benefit
• Good understanding of experimental work and necessary computing skills
• Ability and willingness to learn new things
• Fluent Finnish and good English skills, both written and spoken, are required

We are looking for a candidate who is able to work efficiently and proactively in our research team and be independently responsible for carrying out project assignments. Good communication skills are expected, as you will be collaborating regularly with scientists, technicians and international colleagues.
