Wärtsilä Shared Service Center (WSSC) supports the Wärtsilä companies in financial accounting or other operational tasks and acts as a gatekeeper to ensure compliance. WSSC is striving for harmonized one global Wärtsilä way of working worldwide with high quality, timely, effective and efficient processes. WSSC is sharing best practices and knowledge with focus on continuous development and operational excellence. 


We are looking for one Operative Purchaser to WSSC purchasing in Finland for a special new build project in Vaasa in building-up future fuel storage and supply related to Wärtsilä Smart Technology Hub (STH).


One of Wärtsilä’s strategic priorities is the decarbonisation of marine and energy sectors. To make this happen we need to have engines capability to test and validate our with various relevant green fuels. Future Fuels for STH project will build the infrastructure needed to support these strategic priorities. 


Given the global situation where logistic chains and supply of materials are under pressure and the ambitious schedule set for the project, this project will challenge professionally everyone on board the team.
Sourcing and purchasing will play a key in the successful completion of the project as proper vendor selection and securing material flow are crucial ingredients to meet set cost and schedule targets.


You will be the main responsible operative purchaser for the project, ensuring efficient operative purchasing activities for the project. You will also have the support and cooperation from our global network of operative purchasers and experts globally at WSSC, ensuring the purchasing success for this project.


This position will offer an excellent possibility to learn and/or strengthen operative purchasing skills from the whole purchase to pay angle.  


The position is temporary for 2 years and located in Vaasa, Finland. 


Responsibilities:
 

  • Manages purchase requisitions and creates purchase orders according to defined strategies and frameworks
  • Acts as the single point of contact for the indirect purchasing and WeBuy support (i.e. requisitions) within WSSC responsibility area
  • Purchasing tasks with main responsibility towards the project
  • Acts as point of contact for suppliers on local level to resolve operational issues and to distribute / escalate other issues
  • Proactive approach to promoting governance of global procurement processes and ensuring Wartsila companies comply
  • Light Sourcing activities
     

Requirements:
 

  • Commercial/Financial/Technical (e.g. Bachelor of Business Administration, or a degree in Industrial Engineering)
  •  Fluent English language skills 
  • Operative purchasing experience or other purchase to pay process experience are seen as an advantage
  • Basic accounting
  • Systematic and organized way of working 
  • Open-minded and agile personality
  • Flexibility and good team working skills 
  • Positive attitude and pro-active thinking
  • Good customer service skills 
  • Capability to work in a global and virtually lead team
  •  Experience of similar tasks and shared services operations is an advantage
