Food Development University Teacher

The Faculty of Science and Engineering at The University of Turku opens two position of University Teacher of Food Development:

• employments with fixed term, 1.1.2020 – 30.6.2020 (trial period 3 months)

  It is possible, that the employements will last longer, a year in total

The duties of the university teacher of food chemistry include both teaching and administrative tasks. The person participates in the teaching duties in the degree programs of Biotechnology (BSc-tech) and Master Degree Program in Food Development (MSc-tech).

The teaching duties include participation in the planning, development and execution of the degree programs, lecturing, book exams, planning and execution of exercises as well as drafting of the personal study plans together with the students. The duties also include supervision of the MSc, MSc-tech and PhD students.

We hope that you have a strong scientific background and experience in the field of Food Chemistry. The candidate is also expected to have good language skills in English, a doctoral degree in a suitable field and excellent teaching skills. In your academic portfolio, please share also your plans concerning your future research projects.

When assessing the merits of the applicants for the post of university teacher, record of high quality research and practical expertise in the field, teaching experience and teacher training, ability to produce study materials, other teaching merits, a teaching demonstration will be taken into account, and it also recommendable to have an excellent knowledge of Finnish.

The salary is determined in the department of Biochemistry in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel. For university teacher the salary is at levels 3-6 on the job demands chart, where the task specific salary component is between on 2233,47 – 3423,25 euros per month. In addition, a personal work performance component will be paid. The personal work performance component is a maximum of 50% of the task specific salary component.

The qualification requirements of the position are described in the rules of procedure of the University of Turku.
