The PLC Team amplifies Varian's impact on cancer care through the definition of product development processes as well as methodology coaching and training for our development teams. The overall goal is to reduce time to market, increase product quality, and simplify product transfer to manufacturing and customer. Industry practices and process optimizations and methods shall be evaluated and after successful piloting implemented to support the needs of the company for product realization. As part of a small team of coaches, you will be responsible to train and coach the teams during piloting and global rollout of new methodologies, processes and tools.

Your Responsibilities

You become the go-to person for software development procedures and training across teams and domains.

  • Build excellent network and relationships with the cross-functional development teams and management to drive change effectively and consistently.
  • Align lean-agile development practices like Scrum throughout the various development teams. Coach the teams on the methodologies and train them on the established processes and ADLM tools.
  • Feel accountable that the teams apply the processes and the tools as intended to ensure compliant quality products. Coach the teams to reach product KPIs (e.g. release predictability, continuous integration, testing and deployment, defect rate).
  • Work together with the global Quality Engineering group to further develop the design & development processes and the ADLM tools.
  • Manage the roll-out of new processes, tools and methodologies to the various teams and lead the on-boarding projects. Organize workshops and training as appropriate.
  • Author and maintain learning materials for the development methodologies, ADLM tools, and procedures.
  • Analyze PLC processes and identify process improvements to add value for our internal stakeholders by excluding unnecessary activities on a global level.
  • Coach and advise teams with regards to methodologies, tools, and procedures throughout the product life-cycle.

Job Requirements

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to facilitate workshops, meetings and training with cross-functional teams on existing and new methodologies and processes.
  • Understands himself as a coach and trainer for design & development teams.
  • Ability to travel to other locations worldwide as required (appr 5%).

Qualifications

  • Software engineer degree or adequate experience (M.Sc. level)
  • Profound experience in software development environments and in coaching software development teams
  • Excellent knowledge and experience on Scrum
  • Understanding of agile scaling frameworks
  • Understanding of Medical Device Regulations such as FDA QSR regulations and ISO13485 Quality Management System
  • Expertise in Microsoft Azure DevOps or Jira is an advantage.
