VTT – beyond the obvious.

Do you want to participate in solving challenges related to the decarbonisation of energy, integration of large amounts of wind and solar power, and electrification of energy sectors?

With us you will be responsible for

You would participate in the FasTen project, which will explore the potential to accelerate the decarbonisation of the Baltic states in the next 5–15 years. The project will look for opportunities not just in the electricity generation but also how emission free electricity could replace fossil fuels in the heating of buildings, in the transport sector and in the industrial sector. In the Baltic countries these cause more emissions than the electricity sector.

Main responsibilities:
• Collecting data on the energy systems of the Baltic states, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania
• Assist in building a model of the Baltic energy system

We expect you to have

• Bachelor degree in energy systems or related
• Experience in programming in Python, R, Julia or GAMS
• Good command of the English language
• Knowledge of Estonian language is an advantage.

We are especially looking for enthusiastic minds with strong motivation to grow and develop, so you don’t need to tick all of the boxes right now!

As a person you are

You have good collaboration skills but are also able to work independently. You should be well-organised and be able to document your work as you go. You are willing to learn new things.
