Description of position

We are looking for a highly motivated student with good background in cell biology to work at oncology research laboratory. You will support early stage drug discovery as a part of team focusing on target identification, validation and mechanism of action studies. You will do hands-on laboratory work such as cell culture and related assays as well as participate in daily laboratory maintenance under supervision of a scientist and experienced research assistants.

Description of unit

Oncology Research is accountable for the discovery of novel targets and drug projects related biology research in the therapy area of oncology at Orion. You will be based in Turku, where we have three focus areas: Immuno-Oncology, Cancer Genomic Medicine, and Tumor Growth Regulation. You will be part of the Tumor Growth Regulation team but work in close collaboration with other research organisations of Orion.

Requirements

A successful applicant has hands-on experience of laboratory work and previous experience in working in a cell culture laboratory. Additionally we expect that you have completed at least 3 years of university studies in the field of health sciences (for example cell biology, molecular biology or biochemistry). You are a highly motivated and accurate professional with good communication skills in English and ability to interact in collaborative work environment.
