Intern - Video Coding
The Media Technologies Research lab in Nokia Technologies develops differentiating technologies and system solutions, strengthens our patent portfolio and drives standardization of new media technologies. We have a long and successful track record in media coding standardization. Description: Nokia Technologies in Tampere, Finland, is looking for a research intern to work on new compression technologies for future video coding standards. The position can be tailored to fit the applicant´s profile with focus on algorithm development for new video coding tools and/or codec software design and implementation. You will work closely with our research and standardization team defining and implementing state-of-the-art video coding technologies. Authoring publications is an essential part of the work. The position is for a fixed-term period up to end of May 2021. It provides a nice framework e.g. for a PhD thesis. Qualifications: We are primarily looking for a motivated PhD student with experience and studies on video compression/processing and/or machine learning technologies. Knowledge on the latest video coding standards, such as High Efficiency Video Coding, is a pre-requisite to apply to this position. Your toolbox of skills includes software development skills in C or C++ and experience on other programming languages, such as Python and Matlab, is appreciated. Machine learning skills is considered a valuable plus.
