Do you know why it’s called new space?

ICEYE is building and operating its own commercial constellation of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites with SAR data already available to customers. These satellites can take images of Earth at any time – even when it’s cloudy or dark. Information derived from these images will help our customers understand the world better and help them make more intelligent decisions. We launched the world’s first SAR microsatellite in January 2018 and have raised $65M in financing to date.

To support the growth of the company, we are now looking for a Systems Engineer to be based in our headquarters in Espoo, Finland. In this role you will report to Lead Systems Engineer.


Your daily tasks:

  • Assisting with configuration, integration, acceptance testing and debugging of satellite communications systems
  • Supporting satellite launches and operations to make sure the communications chain runs smoothly
  • Collaborating across teams both to implement new ideas and features as well as to support the existing implementations, while maintaining the security and integrity of the data, systems and network
  • Depending on the needs at hand, you might be expected to do work-related travelling


Your attributes that we need:

  • Good understanding of RF (radio frequency) fundamentals, digital modulations and channel coding techniques (hands-on experience through previous work, university-level laboratory courses, radio amateur hobby or similar is a must)
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot communications systems and equipment, especially those used for satellite communications
  • Good understanding of Linux and networking fundamentals, experience in working on command line level with operating systems and network devices
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, ability to make decisions and deploy solutions based on observations and guidance
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, written and verbal communication abilities, enthusiasm to constantly look for ways to improve systems
  • Ability to get things done while still taking the time to get the design right
  • C coding skills are highly appreciate
