The Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies is an independent institute of advanced study within the University of Helsinki. It provides a top-class, international research environment for scholars in the humanities and social sciences. The Collegium promotes innovative interdisciplinary cooperation, both within the Collegium and at the University of Helsinki. Collegium fellows are recruited annually in a highly competitive fellowship call to work on their research projects.

HCAS is now looking for
THREE TRAINEES
to work in various tasks between 2.3. – 30.6.2020. Work is part-time (four days per week) and paid.
The main duty of the trainee is to assist the Collegium researchers in their various research projects. Tasks of the trainees may include, for example, processing research material, retrieving information, editing publications, linguistic support, translating texts, organizing and assisting at academic events and assisting with unit communications.

The trainee is required to have a good command of Finnish and English, and other language skills are an asset. In addition, the trainee must be a Master's degree student at the University of Helsinki. We particularly appreciate interest in research and in working as a research assistant in projects related to the humanities and social sciences. We also appreciate willingness to engage with a variety of tasks, including more practical ones such as those related to organizing events, as well as a brisk attitude, team spirit and good organizational skills. In this application round we are also looking for a student of history, who will work on tasks related to the Collegium’s archive in preparation for the 20th anniversary of HCAS in 2021.

We offer our trainees an international work environment and interesting assignments related to research in the humanities and social sciences. We support your work with active guidance, so that you can get the most out of your traineeship. A two-month probationary period will apply.
