VTT – beyond the obvious.

We offer summer trainee positions in the field of Nano and Quantum technologies. We have broad expertise in quantum sensors and photodetectors, cryogenic electronics, graphene and other 2D materials and measurement technology. We cover the field from fundamental science to industrial applications. We are based in Micronova, Otaniemi, utilizing the largest micro- and nanofabrication facility in Northern Europe (http://www.micronova.fi/nanofabrication_centre-002/micronova_nanofabrication_cleanroom/

R&D of quantum and nanotechnologies at research assistant level, for applications such as quantum computing, photon and radiation detectors, or cryogenic sensors. Depending on your background and interests, your role will be tailored to include one or more of following main responsibilities:

• simulation and design of quantum and nano devices and circuits,
• fabrication of samples in the clean room
• characterizing the samples

• You are Master’s level student in the field of physics, applied physics, electrical engineering and/or related field
• Eagerness for hands-on work in a laboratory environment
• Basic knowledge of electronics and/or programming

We are especially looking for enthusiastic minds with strong motivation to grow and develop, so you don’t need to tick all of the boxes right now!

You have good analytical and problem solving skills with a passion for technology and research work. You enjoy learning new things continuously and have the capability to work both independently and as a team member. You are skilled in reporting and disseminating your work, both in written and oral English.
