FAST-Lab at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences is led by Prof. Jose L. Martinez Lastra and is part of Automation Technology and Mechanical Engineering. The objective the unit is the seamless knowledge integration of humans and machines/robots creating smart environments by capitalising the advances on Information and Communication Technologies. FAST-Lab does research in Automation, Industrial Informatics, Industrial Cyberphysical Systems, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. The main application domains for our research are Factory Automation, Healthcare Automation and Smart Mobility building the future Smart Factories, Smart Healthcare and Smart Cities.

Job description

FAST-Lab is searching for 1 Project Researcher and 1 Research Assistant to work for a H2020 European research project entitled “Smart Human Oriented Platform for Connected Factories (SHOP4CF). SHOP4CF aims to find the right balance between cost-effective automation, repetitive tasks and involve human workers in areas such as adaptability, creativity and agility where they provide to the biggest added value. In addition, to pursue the highly connected factory model to reap the benefits of all the data generated within the factory shop floor level.

The work is mainly composed of the following tasks: To follow up with the activities of the project partners such as participating in teleconference meetings and workshops, to research and finally develop the required sw modules. The developments include: Architecture review, programming and testing. Additionally, it is mandatory to participate in reporting the project’s advances by writing deliverables etc.

Requirements

The following knowledge and skills are welcome:

  • Computer skills in JAVA, JavaScript, NodeJS, Python
  • Experience on developing software, including documentation using UML 
  • Strong knowledge on web services and industrial internet protocols
  • Interest on factory automation, industrial informatics and robotics will be valued
  • English is the working language of the research group and of the research project, therefore fluency in English, both written and oral, are considered essential
  • MSc students: Majoring in factory automation and industrial informatics, having completed at least 75% of major study block, could be considered for completing their MSc thesis

We offer

The position of Project Researcher will be full-time and it will be filled for a fixed-term until December 31, 2023.

The expected starting date is as soon as possible, as mutually agreed upon by both parties. A trial period of six months applies to a new employee.

The salary will be based on both the job demands and the employee's personal performance in accordance with the University Salary System. 

The position of Project Researcher is placed on the job demand level 2/3 (the demand level chart for the teaching and research staff). In addition, employees will receive performance-based salary.

The position of the Research Assistant will be part-time and it will be filled for a fixed-term for 6 months. 

The expected starting date is as soon as possible, as mutually agreed upon by both parties. A trial period of two months applies to an assistant.

The salary will be based on both the job demands and the employee's personal performance in accordance with the University Salary System. 

The position of Research Assistant is placed on the job demand level 1 (the demand level chart for the teaching and research staff). In addition, employees will receive performance-based salary.

Luomme älykkäitä ympäristöjä, joissa hyödynnetään uusinta tieto- ja viestintätekniikkaa. FAST-Lab:n tutkimusalueita ovat tehdasautomaatio, teollisuuden informatiikka, teollisuuden cyberfyysiset järjestelmät, robotiikka ja tekoäly.  

Tehtävänkuvaus

FAST-Lab. etsii yhtä projektitutkijaa ja yhtä tutkimusapulaista työskentelemään eurooppalaisessa H2020- tutkimushankkeessa, ”Smart Human Oriented Platform for Connected Factories” (SHOP4CF).
 SHOP4CF pyrkii löytämään oikean tasapainon kustannustehokkaan automatisoinnin, toistuvien tehtävien ja työntekijöiden välillä mitä tulee sopeutumiskykyyn, luovuuteen ja ketteryyteen aloilla, joilla työntekijät tarjoavat suurimman lisäarvon. 

Projektitutkijan ja tutkimusapulaisen tehtävät muodostuvat erilaisista tutkimusprojektin tehtävistä, kuten puhelinneuvotteluihin ja työpajoihin osallistumisesta sekä softan kehitystyöstä, joka sisältää arkkitehtuurin katselmoinnin, ohjelmoinnin ja testauksen. Lisäksi osallistuminen hankkeen suoritteiden kirjoittamiseen kuuluu työtehtäviin.
