Open position of  Doctoral student in Molecular Genetics in Faculty of Medicine.

Prof. Johanna Schleutker’s group in the Institute of Biomedicine, University of Turku, is seeking for a doctoral student in molecular genetics to join our multidisciplinary research on cancer genetics. The research group works in the new facilities of Medisiina D building, with central location and good connections to the whole of the Medical Campus in Turku.

The PhD position is starting 3/2020 (or negotiated suitable date). Duration is max 4 years.

The research project focuses on genetic susceptibility of aggressive and castration resistant prostate cancer in order to find and explain germline genetic alterations behind specific developmental pathways.

The candidate should hold M.Sc/M.D. with skills in molecular genetics/biology, biochemistry or similar, with understanding of (cancer) genetics. She/he should have high level of motivation and scientific interest. Good communication skills in English – both oral and written – are needed.

In case the selected candidate is not eligible for registration as a graduate student at the time of employment, the title of project researcher will be initially used.

Salary is according to the university salary system of teaching personnel with a demand level of 2 added with the personal performance level, which is 6-50 % of the basic task salary. The starting salary is 2155,29 euros per month.

The position has a probation time of four (4) months.
