The VP of Engineering at Yousician will lead a technical organization numbering +40 people, and 5-7 department head direct reports responsible for Mobile and Consumer Web development, Infrastructure, and QA. This role will report to the Chief Operating Officer and be a key member of our Leadership Team collaborating closely with Marketing, Product, and Design.

What you’ll do

Leadership:

• Lead 40+ person technical organization building Yousician’s portfolio of products.
• Mentor, coach, and develop 5-6 department head direct reports in your organization.
• Improve developer productivity and happiness.
• Evaluate resourcing needs, and partner with Talent to create sourcing and recruiting strategies. 

Technical Architecture & Strategy:

• Work with key stakeholders across the company to ensure that engineering is moving in lockstep with the business.
• Explore and evaluate technology opportunities that we may want to utilize to better achieve our mission.
• Identify tech debt and develop a plan for paying it off.

Tactical Execution:

• Ship product and set up scalable tools
• Improve process and accountability across the organization
• Partner with Product Management and lead cross-departmental collaboration
• Define technical metrics/KPIs that reflect success and good technical outcomes.

Who you are

• BSCS/EE or MSCS/EE
• 12+ years of engineering experience building mobile/desktop as well as consumer web products
• Experience managing, leading, and scaling teams
• Excellent recruiter with the ability to attract talent and implement an effective organizational design
• Analytical mindset that allows the prioritization of potential engineering investments for maximum impact
• Preference for fast-paced environments with tight feedback loops and continuous delivery
• Experience with mobile test automation frameworks
• Experience using third party tools ex: for A/B testing, reporting, attribution, and analytics
• Experience working in the consumer space and understand building applications and technology that delight and engage consumers and foster growth.
• Expertise in software engineering best practices for coding standards, code reviews, SCM, CI, build processes, testing, and operations
• Ability to clearly communicate thoughts and ideas within and across teams
• Highly energized with a passion for software craftsmanship
