Division Rock Drills and Technologies is responsible for the development of new technologies and high technology products for all divisions, including rock drills and automation, as well as common research and engineering services. We are now looking for a dynamic and proactive Product Engineer for our Rock Drills Business Unit (BU). This role is permanent and based in Tampere, Finland.

Your mission

The main scope of your work is related to productization of SW/Sensors according to Rock Drills Business Unit strategic ambitions in digitalization. The main focus of New Product Development activities is reliability design of sensors in demanding conditions and measurements. Current Product Engineering work consists of SW maintenance (MATLAB Simulink or similar language), support of various stakeholders in new technology and develop/maintain proper documentation of the products. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Field measurements serving product development, reliability design and trouble shooting
  • Develop sensor solutions and requirements specifications
  • Maintain sensor SW
  • Organize and implement testing programs for the new technologies within responsibility area in Sandvik’s test mine, outdoor testing areas and in customer premises

Your character

You possess a Master’s or Bachelor’s level degree in the area of mechatronics electrical engineering or equivalent field. You have previous industry experience. You have hands on and innovative approach to problem solving. You possess enthusiastic attitude to productization. Your customer-oriented mindset reflects to prompt actions in customer support. You can easily adapt and focus between short- and long-term activities. You are a team player with good cooperation, negotiation and communication skills (both in Finnish and in English).
