ICEYE is building and operating its own commercial constellation of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites with SAR data already available to customers.

These satellites can take images of Earth at any time – even when it’s cloudy or dark. Information derived from these images will help our customers understand the world better and help them make more intelligent decisions. We launched the world’s first SAR microsatellite in January 2018 and have raised $65M in financing to date. We are a Finnish based international New Space company with employees from roughly 30 countries and subsidiaries in the US, UK and Poland. To support the growth of the company, we are now looking for a Senior Data Engineer to support our Ground Software team based in our headquarters in Espoo, Finland. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will work closely with Spacecraft engineering and Satellite operations team to ensure we are building the software and tools that allows for the efficient storage, discovery and visualization of all telemetry and log data generated by our satellite and ground systems.

Your daily tasks:

  • Interacting with a variety of structured and unstructured data generated on the satellite and ground systems
  • Design and develop ingestion pipelines that support multiple different users and technologies
  • Develop client libraries to empower users to access data

Your attributes that we need:

  • Proven database development and architecture planning experience from many projects
  • Solid technical experience in
    • developing large-scale platforms for data processing and storage
    • designing APIs and web services
    • Python, Golang or other equivalent programming language
    • SQL and NoSQL databases
    • AWS or other cloud computing platform
    • software testing patterns and best practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, written and verbal communication abilities in English

Your extra ones:

  • Experience with ELK stack, Splunk or similar
  • Experience designing scalable data storage solutions ie data lakes
  • Experience with a time-series database like InfluxDB or Time-scale
  • Experience with charting tools like Grafana
