Master’S Thesis Position In Metal Nanoclusters And Energy Devices
Aalto University is a community of bold thinkers where science and art meet technology and business. We are committed to identifying and solving grand societal challenges and building an innovative future. Aalto University has six schools with nearly 11 000 students and nearly 400 professors. Our campus is located in Espoo, Finland.
A Master’s thesis position in metal nanoclusters and energy devices is available at Molecular Materials group, Department of Applied Physics (School of Science) at Aalto University.
Our research focuses on synthesis and surface modifications of ultra-photostable metal nanoclusters with high photoluminescent quantum efficiencies. In this project, we are developing highly fluorescent, ultra-photostable gold nanoclusters and nanocluster fiber assemblies along with fabrication of nanocluster-based optoelectronics, light emitting devices, photocatalysis and photosensitizers.
Your role and goals
We are looking for a Master’s student to work with us on photoluminescent metal nanocluster synthesis, characterizations and needed for the fabrication of high performance light-emitting diodes (LEDs).
Your experience and ambitions
We offer a high-tech working environment, with challenging and interesting topics related to advanced materials, photochemistry, electronics, microscopy and light-energy devices. In return, we would like the student to have:
• Suitable studies (experimental) in related fields such as materials science, nanotechnology, chemistry or physics
• Excellent study record
• Good English & team working skills
Your network and team
The student will be based in Department of Applied Physics, Aalto University with high-tech facilities in this department along with the facilities in Micronova and OtaNano. OtaNano offers a wide variety of fabrication processes and equipment for micro- and nanostructures. The facilities cover a comprehensive range of imaging and characterization equipment, including electron microscopy, nanomicroscopy, and x-ray scattering devices.
