Global Functions Business Control is responsible for providing future oriented finance insight to UPM’s functions and acting as a sparring partner to functions management teams. Global Functions Business Control enables decision making and adds value from strategic to operative level by turning financial data, plans and drivers into clear analysis, proposals and focused actions.

What you’ll do

You will act as the Business Controller for IT on UPM Global functions Business Control team in Group Finance. You will strongly contribute to functions operational excellence and cost efficiency with UPM IT management team. You will also report to the IT function head (UPM CIO) as a dotted line. In this position you will:

• Provide IT and global functions reporting that support various stakeholders by turning financial raw data into information and analytics (e.g. function, business, group, statutory and tax view)
• Collaborate with finance and business stakeholders, support decision making and act as a sparring partner to your stakeholders in financial topics
• Lead and develop the IT forecasting and give businesses latest outlook on their upcoming cost charges for on-going year 
• Support IT and business IT projects in cost controlling and following up UPM project principles
• Ensure effective internal control and compliance environment in accordance with regulation and UPM internal policies
• Develop end-to-end processes and improve ways-of-working by coordinating and developing performance monitoring, financial planning & forecasting, budgeting and target-setting processes
• Support scenario planning and business case creation activities within your domain
• In the future, you will also participate in strategy and long-term planning and drive change in IT domain and contribute in developing finance and control processes and concepts within the fixed costs domain

Who you are

To succeed in this position, you have:

• Master’s degree in accounting or equivalent (e.g. industrial management)
• Minimum of 4-5 years of relevant working experience, previous work experience from international matrix-organization and/or business functions finance team is considered a benefit
• Broad understanding of various aspects of finance and fundamentals of accounting
• Operative experience in cost controlling with good analytical skills
• Good influencing, networking and communications skills with the ability to summarize essentials 
• Excellent skills with Excel & PowerPoint and ability to effectively visualize concepts
• Experience and interest towards finance reporting, dashboarding and data visualization tools. Experience of PowerBI, SAP, HFM and data processing tools is considered a benefit
• Interest towards digitalization and IT industry & taxonomy. Knowledge of IT operating models is considered a benefit
• Good command of English and Finnish languages
