We are looking for an experienced Patent Manager to lead the patent department. You will be responsible for helping to strengthen u-blox’s position with respect to patents by managing the patent filing process, coordinating and conducting clearance for emerging product implementations as well as assisting in patent infringement litigations. . The work will involve close liaison with various R&D departments across multiple sites of the company as well as managing our external patent attorneys. The role can be located in any of our offices in Europe.Your Responsibilities
- Manage a small team of patent engineers
- Guide the prosecution of u-blox's patent filings by reviewing internal patent proposals and providing technical and strategic input to our external patent attorneys
- Undertake “Freedom-to-Operate” investigations in conjunction with project management to ensure potential conflicts are addressed
- Assist R&D in identifying new opportunities and/or directions for patenting
- Conduct novelty searches and establish patentability of internally submitted patent proposals
- Coordinate efforts of our external patent attorney(s) including in patent litigations
Your Skills and Experience
- Master's Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with at least 5 years’ experience in at least one of the following wireless communication technologies: positioning, cellular, 802.11 and Bluetooth
- 5-10 years’ experience managing patent applications, freedom to operate studies, claim analysis in litigation
- Capable of working independently and diligently on assigned projects
- Ability to quickly digest and understand complex technical topics
- Result oriented and self-driven team player
- Used to work independently and precisely
- Excellent command of the English language
