We are looking for an Optimization Researcher to join our Logistics team. This is one of those parts of Wolt's business, people don't always realize the complexity of. Logistics is something integral to Wolt, and doing it well can mean the difference between efficient and profitable operations or miserable failure. We have a complex algorithm working tirelessly to make sure our hungry customers get their food as quickly as possible, something we call logistics optimization. For a consumer the most visible part is the estimated delivery time, but under the hood we're also optimizing the tasks and routing for our courier partners.

The team works on Wolt's optimization system, which consists of a logistics optimization server written in Scala, and the core optimization engine written in C++. We're now looking for an Optimization Researcher to build and improve how the optimization engine works.

The team is a mix of Scala and C++ developers, and one Optimization Researcher. Your profile should be a mix between a researcher and C++ developer. In practice, this means we need you to be able to research and develop the algorithm itself in cooperation with our existing researcher, and ideally write production code as well. Usually a background in science indicates the qualifications of the former, but we also hope to see some years of experience working in the industry with modern C++ to ace the latter.

You'll essentially be working on optimizing the generated routes, but also combinatorial optimization, operations research, systems analysis and thinking skills will come in handy when figuring out how can we improve our logistics as a whole. The tiniest optimization can have a huge effect, so the impact of your work is very measurable and immediate. You'll need to have passion for great quality code, but also be able to dig deep into data, analyze how things work, and find areas of improvement to be successful in this role.

The compensation will be a negotiable combination of monthly pay and Wolt stock options. The latter make it exceptionally easy to be excited about our company growing and doing well, as you'll own a piece of the pie.
