Application Engineer Automotive, Positioning Products

As an Application Engineer you will be working in a dynamic and international team within the Automotive Application Engineering team, providing technical assistance to worldwide customers and coordinating the support activities internally within the Product Development organization and respective R&D groups.
To be successful in this role, you have a good understanding of both software (e.g. reference code, advice on SW and/or HW design (digital, and analog) concepts as well as excellent system level analysis capabilities. You can communicate effectively with all stakeholders and understand the importance of customer support. Experience with the Automotive market and applications are a plus point.

  • Managing the technical customer support activities within the Automotive Application Engineering team
  • Creating technical documentation and presentations for customers
  • Proactively align and collaborate with the Product Development teams, Product Management and other R&D teams during product definition and development
  • Support the analysis of non-conformities and feed back to Quality and R&D for corrective actions
  • Host technical trainings and workshops for Field Application engineers and customers around the world.
  • Provide both internal and external support during customer design-in phase up to maintenance period

Your Skills and Experience

  • Master or Bachelor's, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • GNSS data analysis - receiving customer issues, analyzing data, identifying if the data is sufficient and triage the issues and hand-off to other members in u-blox GNSS organization as needed
  • Ability to replicate and analyze customer related issues
  • Hands on experience with validation tools, development hardware, and test equipment.
  • Good understanding of GNSS technology, typical solution architectures and expected behavior of components
  • Experience with bug life cycle systems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Hands-on knowledge of embedded software and/or hardware design
  • Customer-oriented, able to quickly understand the system architecture of customer's application and advice field application engineers or key customer on possibilities, and consult on a technical level.
  • Excellent communication skills to interface with u-blox subsidiaries and customers around the world
  • Demonstrated work initiative as a self-starter with time management and prioritization skills, with ability to follow up actions to closure
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and events in domestic and international locations
  • Fluent in English, other European or APAC language are a plus

Bonus Points

  • Previous experience in Global Positioning Systems (GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo)
  • Experience or good understanding of Automotive applications and market
  • Experience in embedded SW debugging and embedded development platforms (emulators/debuggers)
  • Experience in C/C++/C# programming
  • Hardware design experience (analog, RF, digital)
