Two part-time Research assistant positions (40%) for 6 months.

The Research Unit of Languages and Literature at the Faculty of Humanities is offering two research assistant positions for 6 months (start of employment between 1 November 2020 and 1 January 2021). The assistants will work in the project “Smart Communication: The situated practices of mobile technology and digital literacies” that is funded by the Academy of Finland and led by Assistant Professor Florence Oloff. The research assistants will work in close collaboration with the project leader and the project members Samira Ibnelkaïd (postdoctoral researcher), Joonas Råman (postdoctoral researcher) and Iuliia Avgustis (doctoral researcher). See the website https://smartcommunication.blog for more information on the project. The team’s working language is English.

The salary is based on level 1 of the job profile chart for university research and teaching staff. In addition to the job-specific salary component, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid, which will be between 6%-19% of the job-specific component. The minimum gross salary for a 40% position will be 791€ per month. A trial-period of 3 months will be applied.

The work period is flexible and can be negotiated with the recruited persons. Applicants should ideally possess native or near-native skills (CEFR level C1/C2) in German, Czech, or French. Fluency of several of these or in combination with other languages (especially English, Finnish, Russian) is a benefit. Applicants with a previous or current study focus on the humanities and social sciences (such as any language or philology, linguistics, education, sociology, media, communication, etc.) will be preferred. Experience in studies related to research on spoken language and in transcribing and editing audio-video material will also be considered a benefit. While the positions are especially suitable for advanced-level students (holding a bachelor’s degree), suitable candidates who are at an earlier stage of their studies are also encouraged to apply.

Applications should be written in English and submitted via the University’s e-recruitment system by October 8, 2020.
