About the Position

In the People Services you also will find the HR Platforms team, a team consisting of a wide range of tech professionals, building, enhancing and maintaining the enablers required to run the New HR Operating model and successful HR Transformation. In the HR Platforms team, we build meaningful HR experiences on top of our existing platforms, to enable an engaging and self-service focused HR Services. In practice this means creating a one-stop-shop HR portal, a virtual assistant, enabling and delivering automation as also ensuring the wide range of HR content is available digitally. We work as an in-house partner with the business to ensure value delivery with a demands-driven mindset.

The HR Platforms team is organized around a set of prioritized products and capabilities, and the way of working is agile. This means that the team together with the HR Community defines the requirements, definition of done and acceptance criteria, after which the team together deliver the needed configurations, development, content, automation, UI or capability according to the prioritization of a product owner and the guidelines and tech vision of the solution architect. The HR Platforms team is strongly collaborating with IM organization, and has a commercial and customer-oriented focus.

Your closest colleagues will be the Product Owner, Solution Architect and a seasoned front-end developer together with the team of technology capability developers and content experts, who are there to support you understanding the details of the Core HR capabilities and possibilities they give. You will work closely also with the UX Designer in the team, to ensure the tone of voice and design is delivered as per the future employee experience targets.

As Software Developer (Conversational UI), you will be focusing on the automation of processes in the front-end layer, namely focusing on conversational UI development, bringing to life the Virtual Assistant. The goal is to have a conversational UI as a seamless part of the front-end, which is consisting of several applications behind the API layer.

In this role you will get to define the requirements together with the PO and the Customer, create POCs and continuously improve the HR Service experience via an engaging conversational UI and the automation related to it. The communities of expertise is the arm towards the wider tech community, working as a sparring partner in your work.

Location for this position is preferably Helsinki or Vaasa in Finland. 

Responsibilities 

• Develop the Virtual Assistant as part of the HR Platforms team. 
• Own the conversational UI from technical perspective and ensure the technologies and components used are according to Wärtsilä guidelines and the HR technology roadmap. Development focused on Chatbot development (define, design, and ship), anyhow as the team is small in size, other development activities in the front-end and API layer will also be prioritized at times.
• Analyse the customer needs and design, document, test, and develop software as prioritized by Product owner to satisfy the functional and non-functional requirements.
• Support external developers to ensure consistent quality of the HR Portal
• Expected to continuously improve the codebase as also participate in elevating the team skills and knowledge.
• Manages production support issues.

About You

We are looking for someone with already a track record of delivering and maintaining conversational UI in production. Ideally, you would have experience from the very problem-solution fit process towards the deployment and enhancement of the product. 

Team works in a global setting and the selected person will be expected to interact with stakeholders, users and the community members, to ensure delivering a well-perceived service experience through content and activities delivered via the User Interfaces. You embrace the agile ways of working as also actively contribute to the feature breakdown and refinement.

To be successful in this role, we expect you to:
• Be service-minded. If you don’t know something, you will for sure find it out!
• What we’re expecting
  - Solid experience with building conversational AIs (chatbots) (experience with multiple platforms is a definitive plus)
  - Experience with consuming APIs
  - Understanding of modern frontend development tools
  - You are used to creating tests and document your code / solutions
  - You want to actively participate in the design of the solutions your build with the rest of the team to focus on the right things
  - You are willing to learn new things and share knowledge with the other team members
• We consider any of the following a plus, but not necessarily mandatory:
  - Deeper understanding of frontend development (e.g. React+Redux, Webpack, Jest)
  - Backend and/or infrastructure experience (e.g. Go, AWS, Terraform, Docker, K8s)
  - Experience working with databases
  - Solution architecture experience
  - Experience with CI/CD pipelines
