About the Position

In the People Services you also will find the HR Platforms team, a team consisting of a wide range of tech professionals, building, enhancing and maintaining the enablers required to run the New HR Operating model and successful HR Transformation. In the HR Platforms team, we build meaningful HR experiences on top of our existing platforms, to enable an engaging and self-service focused HR Services. In practice this means creating a one-stop-shop HR portal, a virtual assistant, enabling and delivering automation as also ensuring the wide range of HR content is available digitally. We work as an in-house partner with the business to ensure value delivery with a demands-driven mindset.

The HR Platforms team is organized around a set of prioritized products and capabilities, and the way of working is agile. This means that the team together with the HR Community defines the requirements, definition of done and acceptance criteria, after which the team together deliver the needed configurations, development, content, automation, UI or capability according to the prioritization of a product owner and the guidelines and tech vision of the solution architect. The HR Platforms team is strongly collaborating with IM organization, and has a commercial and customer-oriented focus.

As a Solution Architect, your closest colleagues will be the Product Owner, HR Business Technologist, DevOps Solution Architects and the Enterprise Architect. You will also liaison with the UX Designer to ensure the solutions are capturing the future employee experience targets. You will interact daily with the software and tech capability developers to facilitate the build of the one-stop-shop and will contribute to the vision and roadmap work together with the HR Platforms lead. 

You are surrounded with HR Process and content knowledge and we expect you to bring the latest of technologies to the team, both for the vision as also for the actual capabilities. You will be focusing on ensuring the application and external API layer is harmonized with the backend, and support hands-on the technical capability build for the HR portal, and its features, as also the Virtual Assistant. You are strongly participating in the refinement work, raising technical uncertainties and giving insight into different choices that can be taken.

In this role you will also get to create POCs and continuously improve the HR Service experience via an engaging One-stop-shop HR service experience. The communities of expertise is the arm towards the wider tech community, working as a sparring partner in your work.

Location for this position is preferably Helsinki or Vaasa in Finland. 

Responsibilities

• Solution Architecture for the Front-end application layer, as also for the API layer.
• Develop the technical capabilities needed to support the meaningful HR Service experience in the HR portal
• Participate in vision creation and roadmap enhancement together with the HR Platforms Lead and the HR Business Technologist.
• Act as an ambassador for the newest technologies and act as a sparring partner for the Software Developers in the team.  
• Ensure the technologies used are according to Wärtsilä guidelines and the HR technology roadmap.
• Understand the customer needs and design, document, test, and develop solutions as prioritized by HR Platforms lead to satisfy the functional and non-functional requirements.
• Support external developers to ensure consistent quality of the HR Portal
• Expected to continuously improve the codebase as also participate in elevating the team skills and knowledge.

About You

People Services community is a group of professionals who are solution-oriented collaborators, fostering a culture of people-centricity, operational excellence and focus on making an impact to the business.

We are looking for someone with already a track record of delivering and maintaining solutions, applications and APIs in. Ideally, you would have experience from both infrastructure and software development from different industries, supporting the holistic view to the solution architecture domain. As we are strongly presenting HR Content in the one-stop-shop in different ways, overall knowledge of content delivery in self-service applications is seen as a plus.

Team works in a global setting and the selected person will be expected to interact with stakeholders, users and the community members, to ensure delivering a well-perceived service experience through content and activities delivered via the User Interfaces. You embrace the agile ways of working as also actively contribute to the feature breakdown and refinement.

To be successful in this role, we expect you to:

• Be service-minded. If you don’t know something, you will for sure find it out!
• Experienced with solution architecture design
• Experience with the following topics:
  - Git
  - API design
  - Database design
  - CI/CD pipelines
  - Cloud providers, like AWS, their offerings and working in the cloud
  - Working with Kubernetes
  - Monitoring solutions
  - Service/API integrations
  - Single Sign-On implementations
  - Unit testing
• You want to deliver the best product possible and take active part in making sure it goes right all the way from concepting to delivery and brings the maximum value for the end-user
• Hands-on approach, you will not just draw boxes but are expected to participate in the development work
• You want to deliver sustainable solutions, meaning well designed, properly tested and documented products
• You take information security seriously
• Technologies you’d be working with include AWS, Kubernetes, Go, Python, Docker, Terraform, React+Redux, Postgres (just to name a few)
• You have a solid track record of working in the area of software, hardware and technical development
• A background in consulting is considered a plus
