Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher to join the group of Prof Johanna Ivaska (https://ivaskalab.utu.fi/) to work on an exciting project in cancer biology. We aim to understand how the adhesion, actin cytoskeleton and oncogene signalling are coordinated within the context of pancreatic cancer tumorigenesis and subsequent metastasis. While the main component is fundamental academic research, the project is closely linked to a drug discovery project with a biotech company.

We aim to recruit an outstanding individual who has a strong collaborative nature, effective communication skills and the capacity to work independently and as part of a team. The applicant will have successfully completed a PhD in a field relevant to the molecular and cellular biology of cancer and have published at least one peer-reviewed article. Experience in cancer biology, mammalian cell culture, molecular biology and in vitro and in vivo cancer models would also be an advantage.

Applications must be submitted no later than October 31st, 2020 via the University of Turku’s electronic application system www.utu.fi/careers. The link to the system appears at the beginning of this announcement (“Apply for the job”). Applicants should also enclose their CV, degree certificate(s), list of publications, a motivation letter including a short description of their relevant skills and knowledge, contact information for two referees and any other documents relevant to the position.

For further information and details about the post please contact Prof Johanna Ivaska (joivaska(at)utu.fi). For help with the application system, please contact our HR Specialist Paula Luoma (paula.luoma(at)utu.fi).
