Are you a diplomatic Dev Lead, who has the technical acumen in Java + legacy + devops, with the personality to develop, design, architect, and inspire? Have you led or supported overseas dev teams, or distributed agile teams before? If you have a combination of legacy technologies with modern ones and can help drive one of the biggest transformations to the cloud in all of OP, this is the one.
 
OP’s DevOps culture:

We have an internal coaching organization which is educating our people to enable our Teams towards AWS and cloud, towards helping teams achieve a higher pace of releases. We have a growing concentration on quality and cybersecurity, reducing capabilities of impact time, automating wherever possible, faster experimentations. This group is a driving force for engineering and DevOps, which continues to increase steadily.

The Team/Tribe: Loans/Mortgages
In terms of the financials, this is OP’s biggest and most important money making tribe. Close to 40% of all mortgages taken by Finns, are managed by our systems at OP! We were the first to experiment with Agile, and now everyone is looking at how we will navigate a massive migration away from legacy, as a major renewal into the cloud and more modern systems. You will get to participate in that (which some would find incredibly interesting). This will have a big impact on critical functionality, and a big impact on OP business in general (no pressure!).

In addition to saving the world, another reason to join is that there are a lot of similarities between this Lead Developer role, and the next step up to Tech Lead. If you can see yourself one day leaving coding behind, you can learn the ways of that pathway in this role.

The Job:
You are responsible for development, design and architecture for 2 teams of developers in Finland, and one abroad. As requirements come in, you will be checking the way these are transforming to implementation, with design in between. You’ll be paying attention to the backlog to help the Product Owner with her prioritization, on business needs and technical constraints.

With the teams you will be developing (hands-on dirty work), along with the developers, supporting them and giving them guidelines to help them navigate complex issues. As ‘shaper’ you will diplomatically blend the spirit and working style of these teams, making sure everyone remains united and focused.

You will not be alone of course! You will have a strong ring of other Dev Leads, and our Tech Lead, and Tech people within the Tribe. We are a very close developer community inside OP.

As said, this Lead Dev role is similar to a Tech Lead role, in the architecture and devops transfer area among teams. The key objectives of this role: make sure our 3 teams can handle the system, and make sure that this whole architecture of legacy systems are working properly.

Other skills Required
Knowledge and experience in software development: from definition to dosing, testing and production export
Ability to guide and support team members in development work
Ability to consult and assist the Product Owner and stakeholders outside the team
Ability to create and develop team architecture and technical roadmap
DevOps understanding
