The University’s  INVEST Research Flagship Center (http://invest.utu.fi/) is seeking

2−3 Postdoctoral Researchers for fixed-term positions for the period of 1 January 2021 − 31 December 2022.

The positions are located in the Department of Clinical Medicine in the research group led by Professor Andre Sourander. The focus of our research is on developing and evaluating the effectiveness of evidence-based preventive interventions to provide early treatment of significant mental disorders and enhance the well-being of children, youth and families, as well as investigating the implementation of such interventions, and doing basic epidemiological research that consolidates the ground for future prevention of mental disorders. The focal research areas are early targeted treatment of maternal depression, parenting of children with conduct problems and childhood anxiety and depression. We also conduct general preventive interventions to enhance mental health literacy of adolescents, young adults and parents. Our interventions include digitalized Voimaperheet-interventions and mental health literacy programs.

The postdoctoral researchers applying to this group will be expected to engage in research, supervision and teaching in the above areas and participate in administrative duties as needed. They are expected to have a relevant PhD degree and to have experience in research on prevention/intervention research (including cost-effectiveness analysis), and/or implementation science. The positions necessitate excellent spoken and written English language skills. Good methodological skills (quantitative and/or qualitative) and competence in advanced statistical modeling are needed.

The eligibility criteria are defined in the University of Turku rules of procedure. A person selected for the post of postdoctoral researcher is required to have a doctoral degree and the ability to conduct independent scientific work as well as having the necessary teaching skills.

The salary is determined in accordance with the salary system for universities and consists of two components: a work-specific salary component reflecting how demanding the position is, and a performance component reflecting an evaluation of the position-holder’s personal achievement. The salary of Postdoctoral Researcher is at levels 4–6 on the job demands chart of teaching and research personnel. The job-related salary element is 2563,09–3460,91 euros per month. In addition, a personal salary element will be paid. The personal salary element is 6–50 % of the job-related salary element.

Trial period of 4 months is applied.
