Turku Medical Bioinformatics Centre (MBC) is part of the national Biocenter Finland infrastructure network. We conduct internationally high-level research in the field of computational medicine and bioinformatics. We develop computational data analysis tools and statistical and machine learning methods for the interpretation of large molecular and clinical datasets in close collaboration with leading medical research teams and biobanks. As a core facility, we also support high-quality research by providing bioinformatics support for academic and healthcare units.

We are seeking an expert in bioinformatics to participate in our research collaboration and bioinformatics support projects in the medical field. The main tasks include deployment, testing and development of new data analysis tools together with the MBC personnel, the collaborators, and other stakeholders. Additionally, the tasks include processing and computational analysis of various types of sequencing datasets as well as provision of expert support in bioinformatics.

A successful candidate has experience in various bioinformatic data analysis tools. Expertise in genomics or epigenomics (e.g. DNA methylation, histone modifications, non-coding RNA) or single cell analysis is considered a plus, as  experience in biomedical research. The position requires good programming skills (e.g. Python, R) and ability to work with version control tools (e.g. Git), as well as good communication skills in English and excellent collaboration skills. The position requires an academic degree in a suitable field.

The salary is determined by the collective agreement system of Finnish universities. The project specialist belongs to other personnel and salary will be 3000-3200  eur/month for the person holding MSc degree.There is a trial period of six months.
