Project researcher/Post-doc researcher, computational medicine

Turku Medical Bioinformatics Centre for the period 1.2.2021-31.5.2022

Turku Medical Bioinformatics Centre (MBC) is part of the national Biocenter Finland infrastructure network. We conduct internationally high-level research in the field of computational medicine and bioinformatics. We develop computational data analysis tools and statistical and machine learning methods for the interpretation of large molecular and clinical datasets in close collaboration with leading medical research teams and biobanks. As a core facility, we also support high-quality research by providing bioinformatics support for academic and healthcare units.

We are seeking a researcher in data analytics to participate in our research and collaboration projects in the field of computational medicine. The main tasks include application and development of various statistical and machine learning methods for the analysis and interpretation of unique molecular and clinical datasets together with the research group and the collaborators.

A successful candidate has experience in applying various statistical and machine learning methods. Expertise in longitudinal data analysis or deep learning methods is considered a plus, as well as experience in biomedical research. The position requires programming skills (e.g. Python, R) and ability to work with version control tools (e.g. Git), as well as good communication skills in English and excellent collaboration skills. The position requires an academic degree in a suitable field. The level of the position can be adjusted according to the applicant's career stage.

The salary is determined by the collective agreement system of Finnish universities. The position belongs to research personnel and salary will be 2800-3050 eur/month for the person holding MSc degree and 3100 - 3600 eur/month for the person holding phD degree.
