The Centre for Learning Analytics is a research team in the Department of Future Technologies (Department of Computing 1.1.2021 onwards) at the University of Turku that works to further the university's strategy by improving the quality of education, advancing digital learning and spreading the ecosystem of learning analytics across Finland as well as internationally. Some 20 people in various roles make up the current team. They include postdoctoral researchers, doctoral students, educational scientists, teachers, learning designers and programmers.

The Centre for Learning Analytics participates in several important learning related projects in Finland in the role of providing expertise. We are looking for 1-2 learning analysts/ data analysts for analyzing, visualizing and modeling learning data with the help statistical methods as well as machine learning and deep learning. The fixed-term assignments will begin on January 1, 2021 or as agreed as soon as possible, and the assignment will end on December 31, 2021.

Requirements include a suitable degree, fluency in Finnish and English, knowledge in statistics, familiarity with data analytics tools (knowledge of the R language is an asset) and ability to work as part of a large team. Previous experience with learning technologies and analyzing learning data as well as interest in the field's research is an asset. Students are also taken into consideration for the Technical Assistant position.

The official title of a Learning Analyst/Data analyst will be either technical assistant or technical designer, depending on the education and other merits of the selected person. The salary is in accordance with the University salary system for other university staff. According to the job demands chart, where the task specific salary for a technical assistant is between 1898,26 – 2002,05 per month (levels 4-5 of the chart) and between 2116,01 – 2574,43 per month for a technical designer (levels 6-8). In addition, a personal work performance component will be paid. The personal performance component is a 6% - 50% of the task specific salary.

A six (6) month trial period applies to the positions.
