Telia Carrier mission is to provide exceptional network infrastructure and services – empowering individuals, businesses and societies to execute their most critical activities.

The overall role responsibility is to assess and qualify network expansion ideas (new POPs, new routes) from both customer-driven and network optimization projects. Drive them in a way to maximize our commercial effectiveness and value creation for the company and balancing short-term tactical and long-term strategic needs. Finally, a big part of the role is to get those projects approved by senior management, where the frozen design is the basis for the business case to demonstrate parameters such as gross margin, payback and overall economics.

CONTENT

The Network Development Manager belongs to Product Management organization in the Operations unit.

The Product Management team collectively is responsible for the product, proposition / pricing and network development of Telia Carrier’s suite of products. The team is split into three teams: product, pricing desk, network development.

The Network Development manager will be part of a distributed team of high performing commercial-focused network development managers and project managers who qualify network expansion ideas (Sales/Networks/Strategy), plan & develop network development initiatives to budget approval and implementation.

The Network Development manager will report to the Head of Network Development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for the creation of business cases that support network expansion (POP or route expansion), network optimisation and the coordination of all cross functional efforts leading to it.
  • Responsible for identifying and appraising more short-term, opportunistic investments to capture immediate customer opportunities
  • Responsible for driving strategic network expansion ideas from conception to budget approval and hand over to implementation
• Responsible for data accuracy and modelling accuracy of those business cases.
• Prepare and present investment business cases to Head of Product Management, COO and at times CEO for overall budget approval (depending on DOA).
• Ensure that approved projects are handed over to the project managers /the delivery /networks organisation in a clear, concise and timely manner with all documentation readily understandable and trackable.
• As a team, the network development team is responsible for maintaining the POP list on a monthly basis as well as managing the profitability of POPs and routes. Individuals may be asked to become the lead in any of these activities, track and report on a regular basis on POP performance, Site profitability initiative, etc..
• As a team, the network development team is responsible for developing its own analysis and presentation tools such as business cases, data reporting (Qlik tools on Opportunity tracking, Sold Services tracking etc;.). Individuals may be asked to become the lead in any of these activities.

EDUCATION

• Preferably educated to degree level
