Postdoctoral Researcher fixed-term position Department of Mathematics and Statistics at University of Turku

The number theory research group at University of Turku is seeking to employ a postdoctoral researcher to work on analytic number theory for the period 1.9.2021 – 31.8.2023. The researcher will work in the research project “Analytic number theory” funded by the Academy of Finland in collaboration with the research group and the international research community. The primary task of the researcher is conducting high-quality scientific research. The members of the researcher group are able to work on research topics from their own research plan.

The applicant is required to have a PhD degree in mathematics, preferably on analytic number theory, and to be able to conduct independent research. Only applicants whose research plan concerns analytic number theory are considered. The most important selection criteria are the scientific merits of the candidate and the quality of the research plan. Preference will be given to those candidates whose research interests lie in multiplicative number theory, L-functions or in the interface between additive combinatorics and analytic number theory.

According to the rules of the University of Turku a person selected for the post of postdoctoral research fellow is required to have a doctoral degree and the ability to do independent scientific work as well as having the necessary teaching skills. The degree must be completed before the end of the application period.

The salary will be based on levels 4-6 of the demands level chart for teaching and research staff in the salary system applied at Finnish universities, according to which the base salary for the position is 2563,09- 3460,91 euros per month. In addition, a performance-based salary component of up to 50 % will be paid. The position includes a 6 month trial period.
