Wärtsilä Technical Services is looking for a Component Expert in order to strengthen the Power Systems and Cylinder Head Expert Team in Marine Power, Field Services & Workshops, Global Expert Operations.   

A Component Expert supports our customers to improve the technical and operating performance of our products. We therefore seek you, who holds a broad understanding and a deep knowledge of engine components within the main area of Power Systems and Cylinder heads.
 
To this technical advisory role, we need a person with appropriate technical background, willingness to learn and adapt to innovative technologies, proactive way of thinking, entrepreneurial initiative, fast innovation skills and independent decision-making capability. 
We offer you the possibility for professional development in a multicultural environment where you gain deep knowledge of 4-stroke engines including their applications in both power plants and marine installations.

The preffered location for this position is in Finland, Turku or Vaasa.

Responsibilities:
- Acquire know-how from the latest developments and trends within own expertise area
- Provide technical support to internal and external customers 
- Analyse and compare performance feedback of assigned components for 4-stroke engines
- Support our sales in the retrofit and upgrade activities
- Participate in product performance validation for optimal product utilization
- Guide and when needed perform failure analysis and participate in customer meetings
- Acquire know-how from the latest developments and trends within own expertise area
- Deliver content for manuals, after sales information and training

Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education 
- Experience of diesel and/or gas engine component operation, maintenance and repair is an advantage 
- Knowledge of designing, calculations and manufacturing processes of power system and cylinder head components including principles of materials selections
- Basic understanding of destructive and non-destructive testing methods
- Ability to travel globally and a good co-operative style in multicultural environments  
- Good command of both spoken and written English.
