Software Developer, Terra team

As a Software Developer, in Terra team, your daily tasks will involve programming, developing and implementing high-quality technical solutions belonging to Shared Systems and Processes tribe in Non-Life Insurance business area. This is a key position where you focus on planning, developing, deploying and maintaining online solutions for Pohjola Insurance’s corporate customers on our main service platform OP.fi. Your team is international as a part of it is located in Latvia.

In our Agile teams all tasks are prioritized through one backlog owned by the team. Mentality is to empower the teams and give them freedom on decision making. Our teams utilize Scrum or Kanban based on their own needs. Agile ceremonies are followed, but common sense is used on implementation of them. That's why we hope that you enjoy working in a team and you are an active team member. Improving our practices is a task for us all. Sprints cycles are extended with quarterly planning session to improve the cooperation within the tribe and between the tribe.

OP is currently executing a large-scale DevOps transformation. Teams are improving solution architecture, automating CI/CD pipelines and taking in increasing amounts ownership of service operations. We embrace the 10:20:70 rule and reserve time for improving day-to-day working and learning. What we hope from you 

Background in Java programming is essential and previous implementation and working experience with Cloud Services e.g. AWS as well as Containers. You are fluent communicator in English and Finnish is an asset. To succeed and thrive in this kind of environment, we hope you have:

Back-End Development Experience:

• AWS

Together with you Back-End experience, you can have either Front End Development experience:

• React

Or you can have experience of Ops:

• Scripting
• Infrastructure as Code
