FX Rendering Engineer
Epic Games is searching for a Senior FX / Rendering Programmer motivated to work with and empower a range of artists across the games and VFX industry. In this role on the Unreal Engine Niagara team, you’ll apply your knowledge of modern rendering and simulation techniques to push the boundaries of what is possible in real-time visual effects.
Responsibilities:
Driving performance of Unreal Engine 4’s Niagara particle system to a world-class level on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, Android, and IOS
Working closely with effects artists for new features and capabilities for the Niagara runtime, taking full advantage of the hardware available
Bug fixing and maintaining the existing Unreal Engine 4 code base
Analyzing and fixing common problems in a game engine such as load times, memory usage, and performance issues
Supporting external customers by answering their requests and questions
Qualifications:
Shipped one or more AAA titles as an FX or rendering programmer, or equivalent experience using the Unreal Engine to ship real-time projects
Strong C++ skills and the ability to code and architect various core engine systems
Significant experience with compute shaders
Demonstrated performance and memory optimization skills
Experience developing physics simulations
Experience developing real-time fluid dynamics simulations
Experience working with consoles and/or mobile gaming
Experience working with multithreaded systems
