We are now strengthening UPM Sustainable product design and looking for a Senior Researcher, LCA . Preferable location of the position is Lappeenranta or Helsinki, Finland.

Sustainability R&D team supports all UPM businesses in ensuring sustainability of products and processes in performance and in developing transformative growth projects. Your main responsibility in our team is to coordinate and support the use of LCA inside UPM and support sustainable product design. You will work closely with UPM businesses and corporate responsibility team.

What you´ll do

  • Coordinate and create common approach to the exploitation of LCA inside UPM as part of our sustainable product development concept
  • Follow the policy and standard development and scientific research on the area of LCA and bring forward needed actions in UPM and business level
  • Represent UPM in LCA related collaboration forums
  • Support UPM businesses in their LCA needs
  • Take part in LCA calculations for new product development and other R&D projects

Who you are

  • You have a Master’s or Doctoral degree from relevant field (e.g. technology, natural sciences or business)
  • You have good knowledge of LCA standards and experience in LCA modelling, preferably Gabi
  • Professional knowhow and experience in forest and/or chemical industry is seen as an asset
  • Experience on sustainable product design is beneficial
  • You are an open-minded, service-oriented individual with good co-operative and self-leadership skills
  • You have good communication skills and are fluent in English, other languages seen as an asset
