We are looking for a recent graduate (has graduated within the last 12 months) or a student close to finalising their studies to join the Data Platform service team in Wärtsilä IM Data and Analytics as a trainee.

Our service builds data pipelines from various sources such as Business Support systems, APIs and data lakes to common data platform on top of AWS, load the data into either data lake or data warehouse, transforms the data into right format for delivery via SQL or APIs interfaces. We help citizen developer community to contribute and develop their own solutions on top of the platform. Our aim is to be “Your trusted partner with data engineering” providing high-quality solutions for business stakeholder by utilizing DevOps practices and Agile way of working.

This position is located in Helsinki, Finland. The position is temporary trainee position for 6 months. 

Responsibilities

  • Developing and deploying data transformations using in database procedures
  • Developing and deploying data extractions using AWS services, python and docker containers
  • Developing and deploying data loads using AWS data lake and serverless tooling
  • Participate support and maintenance for the platform
  • Support for developer community and end users
  • Requirements specifications together with the team and business stakeholders
  • Manage the documentation in own responsibility area

Requirements 

  • Background in data engineering or software development
  • Advanced SQL skills including procedures, analytical queries and query performance optimization
  • Python (Pandas and data processing), docker containers
  • Git and CI/CD pipelines
  • Amazon Web Services (Lambda, s3, Redshift, CloudWatch, IAM, DynamoDB, API gateway, Glue, Athena, Serverless framework, Terraform)
  • Customer orientation
  • Fluent in marketing and selling ideas and solutions to the stakeholders
  • Very good in documentation and presentation skills
  • Good collaboration and change management skills
  • Proactive, development-minded, independent and goal-focused attitude to work
  • Fluent written and spoken English
