We are inviting applications for the position of Associate Professor or Professor (tenure track levels 2-3) in Unit of Information and Knowledge Management. The Unit employs seven professors and over 30 professionals working on research and teaching in the field.  We study and develop tools, processes, techniques, and practices for gathering, analyzing, refining and using knowledge throughout an organization and to more broadly the society in order to improve their operations.  We are committed to research that delivers practical benefits, and to generating new knowledge, solutions and expertise that support informed decision-making across society. Job description  

We are seeking a highly motivated and accomplished academic to conduct, organize and supervise high-quality scientific research, to contribute to societal impact and to international collaboration, to give research-based teaching, to contribute to curriculum development and student supervision as well as to the overall development of the discipline. Duties will include teaching and supervision in Management and Information Technology Master’s degree programme.

Requirements

Associate Professor

Professor

We appreciate a strong track record of scientific research with an international impact, the ability to build successful research networks and collaboration, previous experience in student supervision, experience in cooperating with industrial firms, as well as a strong commitment to high quality teaching and overall development of the discipline at Tampere University. The position includes collaboration with Satakunta regional organizations to support organization’s success (see the mission of University Consortium of Pori). 

The research domain of the candidate should deal with Management of Digital Business which is one of three research and teaching areas in the Information Knowledge Management unit, others being Management of Information Systems and Knowledge-based Management. The research of the candidate may deal with, for example, one or more of the following themes: 

  • Digital business models 
  • Platforms and data economy
  • Data-based decision-making
  • Value creation through knowledge management
  • Organizational renewal and digital transformation 
  • Information systems management, particularly in industry and health sectors

We appreciate both high-level empirical and theoretical expertise. You are expected to contribute to teaching in your expertise area in the courses of all levels of the degree programmes in Information and Knowledge Management as well as the development of activities in the unit and the university. Experience of multidisciplinary collaboration, and synergies with other disciplines of the faculty, and neighboring technical faculties are an advantage. 

The selection process will involve interviews, candidates may also undergo an aptitude assessment and may be required to give a demonstration of their teaching skills. In the process the top candidates will be evaluated by external experts.

We offer 

Initial appointment as associate professor is for five years and, subject to successful performance, the tenure track professor will become a tenured member of faculty at the end of the first five-year period. If the appointment is at the full professor level, the appointment will be permanent from the outset. The principles of the tenure evaluation are laid out in the tenure track career system at Tampere University. Support will be provided throughout the five-year period to ease transition to a permanent faculty position. The position will start at 1.1.2022 or upon agreement. A trial period of six months applies to all our new employees. 

Salaries are based on the job demands and employees’ personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. The minimum starting salary of an associate professor will range between 4590-5190 EUR/month and of a professor between 5550-6270 EUR/month. Higher salaries may be agreed dependent upon experience and/or performance.

Haemme tenure track-professoria tai professoria (tenure track -urapolun tasot 2-3) tietojohtamisen yksikköömme, alana digitaalinen liiketoiminta.

Tietojohtamisen yksikössä työskentelee seitsemän professoria ja yli 30 alan tutkimuksen ja opetuksen ammattilaista. Tutkimme ja kehitämme työkaluja, prosesseja, tekniikoita ja käytäntöjä tiedon keräämiseksi, analysoimiseksi, jalostamiseksi ja hyödyntämiseksi koko organisaatiossa ja laajemmin yhteiskunnan toiminnan parantamiseksi. Olemme sitoutuneet tutkimukseen, josta on käytännön hyötyä, ja uuden tiedon, ratkaisujen ja asiantuntemuksen tuottamiseen, joka tukee tietoon perustuvaa päätöksentekoa koko yhteiskunnassa. Kun digitaalinen muutos muuttaa yhteiskuntaa, tiedon ja tiedonhallinta toimii siltana eri tieteenalojen välillä vastaamassa yhteiskunnan suuriin haasteisiin. 

Tehtävänkuvaus 

Etsimme motivoitunutta ja ansioitunutta tutkijaa ja opettajaa, joka johtaa, organisoi ja ohjaa korkeatasoista tieteellistä tutkimusta, osallistuu yhteiskunnalliseen vuorovaikutukseen ja kansainväliseen yhteistyöhön, antaa tutkimukseen perustavaa opetusta sekä osallistuu opetussuunnitelman kehittämiseen ja opiskelijoiden ohjaukseen. Tehtävät sisältävät Johtamisen ja tietotekniikan maisteriohjelman vastuutehtäviä.
