My name is Mika Ikonen, I am leading the Management & Orchestration team within our Network Service Management & Automation unit. My team and I are looking forward to onboard a new MANO DevOps Engineer to our management & orchestration team.

Is this your next opportunity?

As a member of the MANO team, you will have the responsibility to operate and develop systems and applications primarily targeting Telco Cloud orchestration and automation. This is a new and key component in the network and will tie together other network entities to enable full automation and orchestration through SW programming and restful APIs.

In-short, MANO team is all about automation and doing things in a smart way. We embrace complex challenges to make it simple for our stakeholders.

More in detail your role will be:

  • Typical daily tasks will involve troubleshooting and resolving issues in development, test and production environments. Application deployments and configuration changes to support new releases. Analysing system/processes and initiating necessary improvements and changes. Incident & change management. Managing infrastructure with code and automation of tasks.
  • Understanding how the network gains and evolves through automation both for life cycle management, closed loop automation and service assurance point of view.
  • Understanding the end-to-end requirements of the service; functional and non-functional requirements and providing input to other network domains.
  • As we will use sourced SW, hence tight cooperation with suppliers will be a must to reach a joint success with the automation transformation.
  • Additionally, you will have a role when it comes to system design and aid stakeholder in the decision-making process to secure quality and customer satisfaction.

Required skills - MANO DevOps:

  • DevOps experience of:
    • General understanding of CI/CD
    • Jenkins
    • Docker/PodMan and managing containers
    • Working with virtual machines
    • Linux admin work (including scripting: bash, shell or python)
    • Code Repository (e.g., GIT, Stash, Artifactory), Tracking tools (e.g.: Jira).
  • DevOps desirables:
    • Working in an agile method
    • Configuration management: Ansible, saltstack, puppet, etc.
    • Databases, SQL or NoSQL
    • Kubernetes
    • Use of automated test frameworks (e.g., Robot Framework, Cypress, etc.)
    • Understanding of Web services and REST.
  • DevOps bonuses:
    • Experience of SAFe WoW (Scaled Agile Framework)
    • Familiarity with VMware tools, ESXi, vCenter, vCD, etc.
    • Experience with data modelling language like TOSCA and YANG
    • Knowledge of ETSI NFV-MANO standards, i.e., VNFs, NFVI, NFVO…
    • Understanding of mobile networks and network management
    • Front-end development JS, Vue, Angular, React etc.
    • Ticketing tools.
