Wärtsilä Shared Service Center (WSSC) supports the Wärtsilä companies in financial accounting and other operational tasks and acts as a gatekeeper to ensure compliance. WSSC is striving for harmonized one global Wärtsilä way of working worldwide with high quality, timely, effective and efficient processes. WSSC is sharing best practices and knowledge with focus on continuous development and operational excellence.

WSSC Period End Closing Services’ focus areas are general ledger accounting and closing process. We are now looking for an Accountant, Period End Closing. The position is temporary for 16 months. This position is located in Vaasa, Finland

Your main responsibilities are:

  • General ledger postings and period end closing adjustments, for Wärtsilä companies all around the world
  • Monitoring that global SAP automated closing jobs (Smartclose) are proceeding according to timetable and without errors
  • Monitor General ledger account balances and clearings
  • Posting and monitoring bad debt provisions 
  • Participate in monitoring and implementation of best practices and harmonized way of working 
  • Assisting end-users in general ledger postings and period end closing in SAP
  • Creating and updating instructions and training material
  • Understanding and monitoring RPA robotics software processes in general ledger and period end closing

Main requirements in this role are:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Financial Accounting
  • Good understanding of financial accounting processes and reporting
  • Advanced IT skills
  • Fluency in English is required
  • Interest in developing and automating financial processes
  • Good communication and co-operation skills 
  • Structured way of working

In addition, as an ideal candidate you:

  • Are pro-active, self-driven, fast learner and good team-worker 
  • Have goal-oriented mind-set
  • Have high integrity, listen with good intention, appreciate feedback and support 
  • High passion and drive 
  • Work experience from financial reporting and closing tasks is seen as an advantage
  • Knowledge and experience of SAP FI and CO module is seen as an advantage 
  • RPA skills are seen as an advantage
