We are now looking for a TRAINEE for Laboratory of Chronology, Finnish Museum of Natural History

You will work in a research project that uses carbon and nitrogen stable isotopes to study termites and their relations with African savanna vegetation. Your main tasks as a trainee include sample preparation for stable isotope analysis and other related tasks assisting the research project.

We expect you to be careful and capable to work organized. You need to have good motivation and interest in research work. Previous experience in working in laboratory is an advantage but not mandatory.

You will learn how to use stable isotope analysis in practice and get exercise in handling various sample materials including plants, insects, and soil. You will also learn how to interpret and utilize stable isotope data in guidance of other researchers working in the project. There is also an option to conduct a master thesis study related to the data produced during the working period.

The duration of a traineeship is from September 1st to December 31st, 2021 (four months) of part-time (50%) work, leaving time for studies as well. The salary of a trainee is €700 per month for a part-time (50%) trainee.
