Lahti is also a developing university city with two universities operating in the area: University of Helsinki and LUT University. Together, these universities form a network organization called the Lahti University Campus. Research and development on Lahti University Campus focuses on sustainable urban environments and their business and industry. Niemi Campus is at the heart of operations, housing the facilities of University of Helsinki, LUT University and the coordination unit of Lahti University Campus.

The Coordination Unit is a service unit for the universities operating in the area. It handles the universities’ joint communication, service and lobbying tasks, in addition to organising events and gatherings. Through its operations, the unit brings together individuals, universities, interest groups and organisations, building bridges between the universities and the region’s business and industry. In this way, it helps to translate new ideas into practice.

We are looking for a trainee to work as a part of the coordination unit. Work can be done partly remotely, partly in Niemi Campus in the city of Lahti. We offer a great possibility to work in a multidisciplinary environment and to gain experience working with local companies, business life and stakeholders.

We are looking for a person who has interest to
- Organize events for international students (for example Lahti Venture Program and Match Made in Lahti event)
- Write articles related to the world of science and local science community
- Use social media as a communication tool
- Meet and work with multiple new partners
- Learn about administrative tasks related to academia

The duration of a traineeship is 1 September to 31 December 2021 (four months) of part-time (50%) work, leaving time for studies as well. The salary of a trainee is €700 per month for a part-time (50%) trainee.
