Faculty of Education and Psychology is currently seeking to recruit staff to the positions of

University Teacher (2 positions), global innovations for learning and teaching
for the period 2.8.2021 (or as agreed) – 31.12.2024

Tasks and qualifications

These positions are linked to the national Global Innovation Network for Teaching and Learning (GINTL) which is coordinated by the University of Jyvaskyla and University of Helsinki. The network was founded in the beginning of year 2021 as part of the strategic internationalization funding for higher education institutes to support their collaboration in global networking. The GINTL network seeks to generate solutions to the global learning crisis based on the top expertise and collaboration between Finnish higher education institutes and global partners. Partnerships within the network will be built in Africa countries, and in China and India. University of Jyvaskyla will be responsible for the India collaboration, and University of Helsinki for collaboration with African countries and India. The GINTL network strives to increase collaboration and educational impact and to generate educational and research initiatives in order to achieve positive changes and development in learning, teaching  and learning environments.

The university teachers will be a part of the University of Jyvaskyla team responsible for the India collaboration. The tasks of the university teachers focus on global teacher education, building of collaboration between Finnish higher education institutes and partners identified in India, planning of education and curricula, leadership and implementation of education, and related educational export and research activity.

Qualifications we are looking for

The duties, qualification requirements and language skills of university teacher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. The persons selected for these positions are expected to teach in Finnish and/or in English. Excellent English skills are thus required. 

The applicant is expected to have strong teaching merits and to advance the areas of strength of the faculty with respect to internationalization of teacher education and global capacity building.

Success in the tasks will require
- experience in planning and implementation of teacher education programmes or modules, and experience of research and evaluation tasks in the context of international education
- evidence of expertise in pedagogical development
- experience of international collaboration and networking
- excellent skills for working with digital platforms, skills for team work and organisation skills
- skills in intercultural communication
- strong motivation for international and multidisciplinary collaboration

Assets to be considered in evaluating candidates include pedagogical training, evidence of work experience and/or research related to international collaboration, educational exchange activity or global education, and evidence of project management skills and leadership. Doctoral degree will be considered an asset.

The University Teacher’s job-specific salary component is based on the job demands levels 4-5 according to the salary system concerning teaching and research staff at universities. The annual salary range will be approximately 38.800 – 55.700 EUR (gross income, including holiday bonus), depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.

A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.

2. A CV of the applicant, composed according to good scientific practice and considering, when possible, the template for researcher´s curriculum vitae of the Finnish Advisory Board on Research Integrity (TENK);
3. A brief (2-3 pages) description of the applicant’s pedagogical training and teaching merits i.e. teaching portfolio;
4. A numbered list of all scientific and other publications with which the applicant wishes to demonstrate his or her eligibility and merits for the post, according to the instructions of the Academy of Finland;
5. A brief (2-3 pages) written account of the applicant’s experience and merits with respect to internationalization of teacher education and global capacity building
