Location: Helsinki

At Matchmade, we're building a new kind of marketplace that connects social media creators with advertisers and brands. It's a $10B industry, growing rapidly and ripe for disruption with data and automation.

Powering all this we have an impressive amount of tech, data and automation. It’s all the tooling that allows our marketplace to work efficiently. Such tools include data-driven dashboards for decision making, efficient admin-tools for running the operations, or apps that make complex deals straightforward.

While we’re building tools for creators and advertisers, by heart we’re a tech company.

To help us take our tooling to the next level, we’re now looking for a seasoned UX Engineer to work at the intersection of engineering and design. This is a big role, as you’ll be the first UX Engineer in the team and get to define and drive the way we build front-end and UX. Our stack is based on React and Typescript, and we’re a big fans of storybook-driven development and separate smaller apps instead of gigantic monolith.

We are in the ideal stage when to join a startup. On one hand, we have the product up and running, paying customers and top-notch investors, so our focus is on growth and scale as opposed to just surviving. On the other hand, it's still early days for us. We're a small team of 25 people (6 devs), so people joining now will have a significant impact (and stake) on the future of the company.

As a UX engineer at Matchmade, you will be:

  • Developing the ways we build the front-end and UX side of things, be it through internal component libraries, design system or best practices in React and Typescript
  • Driving the design, usability and UX of new features on our platform. You’ll be working closely with the users to understand their needs, and transform those to UIs and workflows that make sense. We don’t expect you to be a design unicorn (whatever that means), but having a feel for product, users and UX will be helpful.
  • Implementing those features with the rest of the product team. The features vary, but examples include actionable dashboards for our advertisers, efficient workflows for internal power users, or delightful and simple experiences for the creators.
  • Actively participating in product discovery and working with the rest of the product team to prioritize features, infrastructure improvements, paying back technical debt etc. The product team owns its own roadmap, and everyone contributes to that beyond "just writing code"

What we are looking for:

  • At least a few years of experience in building web applications and products. The specific technologies don’t matter much, but working knowledge of Typescript and React will be useful.
  • Either a seasoned front-end engineer with an eye for (and interest in) product design and UX, or a designer with strong technical skills as well
  • Self-starter who is interested in understanding the product and business in addition to the technical details.
  • Good communication skills and fluency in English

What we offer:

  • A small and talented team to work with. You’ll have a significant impact on both what we build and how we build things.
  • Interesting technical and product challenges.
  • A competitive salary, stock options and all the usual perks. We’re well funded so we don’t need to skimp on salaries, but small enough for the stock option grant to be meaningful.
  • Work from wherever you want. We’ve been working remotely long before it became mainstream, it’s in the very core of our culture, and we’re doing it quite well.

The position is first and foremost remote. We do have offices in Helsinki and Berlin, which are wonderful locations, but based in or near either is in no way required. For legal reasons, however, you should be eligible to work in either Finland or Germany.
