Doctoral Researcher in children, families and social sustainability

Positions starts on 2nd August 2021 and ends on 31st July 2022.

Qualifications we are looking for

The Social Sustainability for Children and Families (SOSUS) profiling area is one of the Academy of Finland's profiling activities at the University of Jyväskylä (season 2021-2026). The SOSUS profiling area combines research in the humanities, social sciences, education and psychology, sports and health sciences, and business research. Researchers in the multidisciplinary / interdisciplinary profiling area will explore how different environments and opportunities affect the growth and development of children and young people and the well-being of families. Social sustainability means equal opportunities for all, the promotion of pluralism and the enhancement of well-being. The focus is on the themes of equality, inclusion and well-being.

The position of the doctoral researcher is closely related to the profiling area of Social Sustainability for Children and Families. The candidate is expected to conduct research related to the interaction of children, parents and / or different areas of family life or transitions in childhood, family life and education. Dissertation related to the research projects in the SOSUS profiling area is considered a strong asset for the position.

A prerequisite for the doctoral researcher position is Master’s degree and the study right in the Doctoral school at the University of Jyväskylä in the Doctoral programme in Education.

The duties, qualification requirements and language skills of doctoral researcher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations, Rectors´s decision on personnel matters and language skills guidelines. A good command of English is required.

Salary

The annual salary range for the Doctoral Researcher will be approximately 27000 – 29000 EUR (gross income, including holiday bonus). As the dissertation progresses, the salary will be revised in accordance with the universities' collective agreement.

 A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.
