The Department of Education is currently seeking to recruit a candidate to the position of 

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER (2 positions) in children, families and social sustainability

Positions starts on 2nd August 2021 (or as soon as possible thereafter) and ends on 31st July 2025.

Qualifications we are looking for

The Social Sustainability for Children and Families (SOSUS) profiling area is one of the Academy of Finland's profiling activities at the University of Jyväskylä (season 2021-2026). The SOSUS profiling area combines research in the humanities, social sciences, education and psychology, sports and health sciences, and business research. Researchers in the multidisciplinary / interdisciplinary profiling area will explore how different environments and opportunities affect the development of children and young people and the well-being of families. Social sustainability means equal opportunities for all, the promotion of pluralism and the enhancement of well-being. The focus is on the themes of equality, inclusion and well-being.

The postdoctoral researcher's duties include conducting high-quality research in collaboration with the faculties, supporting the development of research and activities in the profiling area​​, and participating in acquiring external funding. In addition, the postdoctoral researcher is expected to participate in societal interaction together with the SOSUS researchers.

Postdoctoral Researcher 1: The candidate is expected to conduct research related to the interfaces and interactions of phenomena concerning family life and organizations and / or family and working life.

Postdoctoral Researcher 2: The candidate is expected to conduct research related to the well-being and physical activity of children and families, as well as related issues of inclusion and equality.

The duties, qualification requirements and language skills of a postdoctoral researcher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. A doctoral degree suitable for the research area is required. Evidence of multidisciplinary research and participation in multidisciplinary research projects are considered an advantage.

Salary

The annual salary range will be approximately 41000 - 52000 EUR for the Postdoctoral Researcher (gross income, including holiday bonus) depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.
